BFFTP 2: Beginning Farmer and Farmworker Training Program

Training the Next Generation of Small-Scale Farmers in California’s Inland Empire

Did you know the average food item in the U.S. travels over 1,500 miles to get to your plate? Along the way, it may lose nutritional value and pick up harmful chemicals from industrial farming practices. At Huerta del Valle, we believe in something better: a community-powered food system rooted in justice, health, and sustainability.

We’re proud to launch the second phase of our Beginning Farmer and Farmworker Training Program (BFFTP 2), a bilingual, 6-month hybrid training for new and aspiring farmers. Through hands-on fieldwork and classroom-based instruction, participants will learn sustainable agriculture, land stewardship, food justice, business planning, and cooperative practices.

This program prioritizes socially disadvantaged and underserved communities in the Inland Empire. All participants are eligible to apply for our Farm Incubation Program, which provides access to land, tools, technical assistance, and mentorship to begin growing the farm of their dreams. Scholarships and stipends are available to reduce financial barriers. Together, we’re cultivating a healthier food system—one farmer at a time.

Harvest Box: community supported agriculture

Commonly known as CSA for short — a Community Supported Agriculture Program is a produce box subscription that gives farmers peace of mind knowing that someone will buy the produce they are working so hard to grow. All produce is grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers. Support sustainable agricultural practices!

How it works:

Members pick up a box of produce every other week, containing a mix of fruits, vegetables, and herbs harvested directly from our farm sites! We like to think of our CSA program as a mutual aid initiative. Healthy and organic food is the best form of preventive medicine; and your continued support directly aids our farmers and operations to keep growing.  Late enrollment eligible. Upfront or Recurring payment options. Mini or Regular size. Mini Box $30, Regular Box $40. Delivery fee charge ($10) or FREE pick up options.

2025 SUBSCRIPTION NOW OPEN MARCH - DECEMBER!
